Mixed Post: Island Blue & Bul-ssang

Last week was the most artistic week in my life since i got opportunities to watch  Francesco Casifo "Island Blue" Quartet Concert and Contemporary Dance "Bul-ssang".

Francesco Casifo "Island Blue" Quartet Concert

This event was held by The Embassy of Italy and Italian Institute of Culture Jakarta on October 18th at Usmar Ismail Hall PPHUI, Kuningan, South Jakarta. I got information of this event from my Italian Lecturer, Prof.ssa Emilia. So on Friday evening I watched it with Ami, Irna, and Caroline.

Because it was a quartet concert there were 4 musician here; Francesco Cafiso (Alto Sax), Dino Rubino (Trumpet-Flugelhorn), Giovanni Mazzarino (Piano) and Giuseppe Bassi (Bass). It was an amazing performance!!!! I was glad i watched it.

Korean Contemporary Dance "Bul-ssang"

This event is a part of 40th year celebration of Indonesia and Korea's bilateral cooperation which is held on October 20th at Taman Ismail Marzuki. Thanks to my Professor, Maya 교수님, I could watch this performance with my Korean Studies Friends.

Bul-ssang (불쌍) in Korean has meaning as "pity" but in this performance also refers to Bul-sang (불상) which mean as "Buddha Statue" which have similar pronunciation. It was a great performance but because of my lacks in dance appreciation i did not really know the story of the dance until Maya  교수님 explained to us the day after. It was a criticism for a cafe in Paris that used Buddha Statue as decoration without knowing the great role of Buddha in Eastern culture.

Outing Class : Eco Edu Tourism Forest

What will happen when you have class at 2.00 pm until 5.00 pm every Wednesday? Sleepy? Boring? Hungry? That was what happened to Korean Studies class of 2010 since that time was the best time to take a nap. So, today our beloved lecturer Mrs. Im KyeongAe (임경애 교수님) took us to Sentul, Bogor to have an outing class there.

they even prepared a banner to welcome us, i was touched

Thank to our lecturer we could have a great experience in Eco Edu Tourism Forest which is located in Sentul. This place is Korea-Indonesia Forest Plan that started since 2008. After we heard a short explanation about this project's history we started planting our own tree.

welcome to Sentul Eco-Edu Tourism Forest Area

so beautiful, natural, and peaceful here!

kamehameha pose -_-

area where we planted our tress

it says
 "planting site for Korean Studies,
Slot 1, number of tree: 50,
16 October 2013,
Faculty of Humanities
Universitas Indonesia"

i was planting Puspa Tree (Schima wallichii)
hope Amei Jr. can grow up well
see ya next time
After have lunch we still had class here, well, it was outing class after all, so we must study even if we went outside. But i must admitted that today was very enjoyable and interesting. After class we had free time to take some picture and enjoy the beautiful view of rice field and small river there.

Here you can see what happen when people from city come to country side -__-

Finally I went to outing class again after the last time I had in high school. Who knows that I still have this chance in our last year in university. This is maybe my last outdoor activities with Korean Studies Friends sooooo saaad T____T. We will never had this much fun without Mrs. Im's help. 정말 감사합니다 교수님!

For my personal opinion, it is an irony to see that we still need Korea's help to grow our own forest. Furthermore to see how many land that now are used by Korean company and other countries' company. Can you people see that now we are being colonized? when our young people enjoy other countries' culture, they started to take over every field here. For me it is a big no, seriously guys! please awake and make up your mind!! Hope we will be the one that can change our country in the future :)

Tidung Island : A Paradise in North Jakarta

Started from an advice that a lecturer gave to us a few months ago, I decided to write more. This one was not a new story but since i do not travel quite often and recently my daily life is quite boring, so..... I think this one will be an interesting thing to write.

Did i ever tell you that i was a part of Buchaechum (부채춤-Korean Fan Dance)? Not yet? Ok, told you, just now ahahhaha. Yep, i was one of them since February 2012 for replacing a member that went exchange to Korea. This year we all decided to retire and teach our juniors to be the next generation. So we went to a 3 days 2 nights holiday to Tidung Island as a farewell party.

Tidung Island is a part of Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands) which is located in North Jakarta. It was a small island with beautiful beach. We planned to have a farewell vacation here with all Buchaechum member, at least that was what we planned but most of Buchaechum members could not make it so we just had vacation with friends that wanted to go.

Here we are!!! Tidung Island!!

Day 1

After about 2 hours and half journey, we arrived in Tidung Island. Thanks God i did not get seasick. We met our guide and headed to our cottage (actually it was not a cottage but i do not find any word that can describe it better). After we rested a little bit and had lunch we looked around the island. Lucky us because it was the end of holiday so there were not many people around. I heard there were almost 8,000 people came here in peak season.

blue sky, blue ocean, infinity!

Like i told before, Tidung Island is a small island but you still need bicycle if you want to walk around because it will be tiring if you go by foot. And the guide already prepare bicycles for us! We looked around some beaches and played in a beach that we thought the most beautiful one.

dunno why we still could pose on bicycle
girls in beach!
Amei and Ara
found a huge sea star, we named it Patrick
so called Jembatan Cinta (Love Bridge)
it was so refreshing, and hot ~,~
At night we had (seafood) BBQ on the beach. It was perfect! ahahahahaha i liked the beach in the night. It was deep dark if you saw at the water but when you saw above to the sky you would see sooooo~~~ many stars than you could see from your house. And the sound of waves made you feel how tiny you were. I like the atmosphere and also....the food.

quite, peaceful, and mysterious
nom nom nom, we ate seafood till we fed up only by look at them

still have time to camwhore lol

Day 2

Day 2 was our main event! we went snorkeling!!! yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! we took a small boat to snorkeling area. The most thing i regretted when i came here was the fact that i forgot how to swim! the pictures were definitely not good if you took it with you in life-vest. But it was exciting when fishes came to your hand to get their bread. Sometimes they mistook your fingers as bread so just enjoy it when they bite you.
heading to snorkeling area!
dyna, amei, lulu

ready to snorkel
uyung, lulu, amei

they were so wild, can you see the biscuit?

love all the view of fishes and corals

After snorkeling, we played banana boat. I have three words to describe it "just try it".

pose before feel the great hurt -__-
banana boat old man, amei, dyna, umi, ara

We spent almost our time playing on the beach and before dinner we went to watch sunset in the West part of the island. It was beautiful view to watch with your lover but the only problem here was it was the only part of the island where you can see the sunset so everybody came here.

we made umi to mermaid!!

Day 3

We woke up at 5.00 am to see the sunrise. Actually we should wake up at 5.00 but no one of us woke up on time because we were too tired that time. So our last day was such a waste only to pack our stuffs and take boat that depart at 10.00 am. After all, our vacation was so exciting! Thank you Tidung Island!! and see you next time!

Maybe i can come again next year after i learn (again) how to swim. But beside Tidung Island there are still many island that i can visit in Thousand Island, wish me have enough money to visit all of them. See you in my next post!
